On September 27th, the largest multi-disciplinary, comprehensive, and open academic exchange platform in the Shanghai scientific and technological community - the Shanghai Association for Science and Technology Academic Annual Meeting and the High end Forum on Artificial Intelligence - opened at the Science Hall, and the 12th Shanghai Engineer Forum was held simultaneously. Gao Xiaomei, Vice Chairman of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Vice Chairman of the Shanghai Municipal Association for Science and Technology, presided over the opening ceremony of the meeting; Professor Sun Jinliang, vice chairman of Shanghai Association for Science and Technology and academician of the CAE Member, presided over the theme report. Ni Bingbing, a professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and co founder and chief scientist of Minivision Technology, was invited to attend. Focusing on the topic of "Intelligent Video Understanding: From Recognition to Generation", we shared the research results of the AI R&D team of Minivision Technology in the field of artificial intelligence with more than 500 scientists including Professor Frank Vilcek, a Nobel laureate in physics in 2004.

At the keynote presentation, Professor Ni Bingbing elaborated on the widespread application of intelligent video projects focused by the Minivision Technology AI team in security monitoring, assisted driving, and social media. At the same time, he also pointed out that intelligent video throwing faces many challenges. For example, prominent timing issues, significant changes in target scale, large video volume, and so on.

In the face of condensed scientific challenges, the AI R&D team of Minivision Technology has proposed several major innovations. One is behavior recognition, which extracts multi time scale motion features based on the temporal feature pyramid and extracts multi time scale motion features through deep recurrent neural network-LSTM; The second is pedestrian re recognition, which starts with a dual LSTM network and replaces traditional frame taking and recognition methods to solve the problem of cross camera pedestrian re recognition; The third is video object detection, which is based on the Bi LSTM cross scale model to locate objects of interest in the video; The fourth is to break through the problem of large changes in portrait size that cannot be accommodated by a single resolution model, and to conduct group counting; Fifth, fully utilize the residual binary network compression algorithm with fast computing speed, lightweight network, and good accuracy maintenance for network compression; Sixth, video generation technology based on bones; The seventh is an interactive behavior video generation technology based on De correlated Gaussian Process interactive bone sequence sampling. Ni Bingbing introduced that these technological innovations have been implemented and applied in areas such as real-time passenger flow analysis in commercial districts, real-time pedestrian and vehicle detection, intelligent medical imaging, and the World Expo scene population statistics system, and have received good feedback. With the above innovative research results, Xiaoshi Technology's AI team won the first place in the international video detection group at the THUMOS' 15 Behavior Detection International Competition hosted by top international artificial intelligence research institutions such as Google and Stanford.

In addition to Professor Ni Bingbing's intelligent video report, Professor Frank Vilcek, the winner of the 2004 Nobel Prize in Physics, Zhao Guoping, an academician of the CAS Member, a researcher of the Shanghai Institute of Plant Physiology and Ecology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, an academician of the CAE Member, and Professor Gao Wen of Peking University, etc., made invited reports on current hot scientific research fields such as quantum mechanics, life science, and artificial intelligence.
At the conference, Chen Kaixian, an academician of the CAS Member and chairman of the Shanghai Association for Science and Technology, awarded certificates and medals to six star level societies, including the newly upgraded Shanghai Solar Energy Society in 2017, and six societies, including the Shanghai Standardization Association, which won the honorary title of the "Third Shanghai Advanced Social Organization"; Unveiling the establishment of the Shanghai Association for Science and Technology Life Science Association Alliance; Awarded the title of "Honorary Member" of the Shanghai Association for Science and Technology to Professor Frank Vilcek, the recipient of the 2004 Nobel Prize in Physics and the first director of the Li Zhengdao Research Institute.
This academic annual conference takes reform as an opportunity, with the theme of "promoting the construction of scientific and technological innovation centers", the purpose of providing high-quality public service products to society, and the goal of building a high-end, cutting-edge, and international academic exchange platform, to promote the implementation of Shanghai's innovation driven development strategy, promote the exchange and collision of academic ideas, and promote the growth and innovation of scientific and technological workers, Efforts will be made to consolidate the intelligence and talents of scientific and technological workers into collective wisdom, serving the strategic decision-making of the Party and government, and providing intellectual support for the Science and Technology Innovation Center.
